When the trial is over Crawford is shown retrieving his personal items, one of which is a gun. However, Crawford's gun would never have been held at the jail nor at the courthouse since it was initially thought to be the weapon used in the crime. It would have been seized by the police as evidence. Once it was shown not to be the weapon used to commit the crime, it would have been returned to the evidence room at the police station since it's owner was in jail and could not retrieve it. Crawfrod is then shown walking inside the courthouse. No U. S. courthouse would allow a civilian to walk around with a gun in his pocket even if it were unloaded.
