On the spider ride, all of the cars are held to the arms by two chains and a cable at the center of the car's roof. When the car that the children are in breaks away, it is shown that the cable breaks, which then causes one of the chains to break. In all subsequent shots, the remaining chain is shown to be attached to the edge of the car's roof, not the center. No other car has such an attachment point. If the remaining chain had been attached to the center, the car would not have tipped as extremely as it did.
