The characters repeatedly refer to the tornadoes they see as F1, F2, etc. However, it's impossible to tell while a tornado is in progress what level on the Fujita scale the storm will be as it's measured by the damage it does, which cannot be gauged until the storm is over and a damage survey is performed.
