In the first "John Wick" film, Miss Perkins is shot and killed for trying to quietly assassinate Wick in his room at the Continental. But in this film, Wick's punishment for breaking the Continental's "No business on the premises," rule is simply denial of his access to the Continental, and he is given a one-hour reprieve, despite having broken that rule in a more blatant manner by executing Santino in the Continental's bar in plain view of everyone, including Winston. However, due to Winston's friendship with John (he has been shown to be willing to bend the rules), he obviously found middle ground with the High Table and chose to have someone else carry out the job.
