With a starship as advanced as the Enterprise, plus with the concern for security, one would think that certain information about the ship, such as the shield frequency modulation, would be kept somewhere out of prying eyes. Instead, it is located on a large panel in engineering where anyone could walk through, such as civilians taking a tour.
