When Ellen returns home and talks to her mother-in-law, Ellen asks her how was her (Ellen) funeral and and is told that it was wonderful. This makes no sense, as Ellen had not been in touch with her family until this moment; therefore, she could not have been aware if they even had a funeral. In addition, the judge had declared Ellen legally dead just that morning; therefore, they couldn't have had a funeral without a legal declaration of death.
