Though a police officer can "house arrest" someone but the arrested person has to be produced before a Magistrate within 24-hours to decide if the person is needed to be kept under police custody. Despite being officers of law both Johny and Megha do nothing against house arrest.The 24 hour deadline also mean that inspector Mathur has no grounds to chase and force Johny and Megha to surrender next day.
