After Doc and Carol get away into Mexico with the truck driver, they offer him $30,000 for his truck. After the driver accepts the cash, he is able to fold it and stow it in his shirt pocket. $30,000 in 100-dollar bills would be three stacks of $10,000 almost two inches high; this would not be "foldable", let alone fit in the driver's shirt pocket.There were still $500 and $1000 bills available being as they were discontinued just a few years earlier. They were certainly available when the script was being written.
