Marcus Vinicius is awarded a triumph (military parade) in honor of his military victories. By the time of Nero's reign only the emperor himself was entitled to a triumph. The triumph in the film has Marcus's army marching behind him. A commander's troops could participate in the triumph but only unarmed and in civilian clothing.
