Enterprises' VT-6 Devastator torpedo bombers appear to also be carrying bombs in addition its main payload of a torpedo. In reality, the torpedo was so heavy that it drastically reduced flight performance. Bombs could not be carried and would not be carried since the torpedo was the main weapon for the Devastator. Carrier tactics of the time emphasized combined strikes with torpedo bombers and dive bombers to overwhelm enemy defenses. As such the Devastator torpedo bomber would only be carrying a torpedo and no bombs.
