At the end of the movie, Ellie is sitting on the ground at the VLA radio telescope facility. She's sitting on the lip of a steep wash or small canyon, with the VLA radio dishes visible in the background. There is no such wash or canyon on the grounds of the VLA in New Mexico. The small canyon was filmed at another location and digitally added to the VLA grounds.
