The dates and time line in the story do not match. In the library, Holden is given a card indicating his time allowed is two weeks. Holden's appointment with death is the 28th. Joanna Harrington indicates later that her uncle died on the 22cnd, and Holden arrived the following day the 23rd, so he would have been given the card on the 23rd or 24th.
