When the initial plane was leaving Kansas with Roy and June, the aircraft shown with gear retracting is a Boeing 737. (Single engine under each wing.) Later the plane wreckage in the cornfield is clearly that of a Boeing 727 "Whisperjet," with three engines in the tail and rear fuselage.
