When Nick is preparing his fish bait trap, he buys an instant camera from a nearby vending machine. These cameras use 126 type film, 400 ISO, which only produces images at best during bright daylight, having an effective range of twelve to twenty feet. Using this type of camera at night would decrease the effective exposure to at best two to four feet and it would still be underexposed. Anything beyond that would appear as black, as the film speed is too slow.
