Jo discovers how to make Dorothy's sensors fly by staring at Aunt May's commissioned wind sculptures. The storm chasers collect aluminum cans and put sharp little aluminum propellers on top of the sensor balls. When the sensors get real close to the wedge tornado they begin to fly. They might be able to fly but their sharp little propellers would be spinning so fast that they would cause serious injuries including death.
