When Nicholas is at the train station, saying goodbye to the troops, a soldier grabs his legs in awe of seeing the Tsar. Nicholas invites him up on the platform. He hugs him three times, right-left-right. The real way Russians (in that era) greeted each other is to kiss each other on the cheek, right-left-right. He even later talks about the kissing custom when they are decorating Easter eggs in Siberia (Tobolsk).
