After Gozer's gate is destroyed, there's a huge explosion seen at the top of Dana's building, and the Stay Puft guy gets melted by the ensuing fire. Incredibly, none of the four Ghostbusters are killed. But since most of the Ghostbusters (except for Peter) were covered in Marshmellow during the explosion and since Marshmellow can absorb most (of not all) of the heat generated by the explosion they can technically survive.
