The sniper rifle is referred to as a Mauser G98 - a WW1 weapon, and wholly appropriate given that the protagonist was a sniper in WW1. However, the curved handle on the bolt reveals it to be a K98, a WW2 era version of the rifle and not produced until later than the 1932 setting of the film.
