Finn is wounded on his shoulder and spine and falls face down into the snow. Later, Rey turns him round, thereby putting pressure on his wounded back. Chewbacca also lays Finn on his back in the Falcon's medical bay and finally he is seen recovering at the Resistance base still lying on his injured back. This position makes for a more pleasing shot as Rey says goodbye to him, but if he was really severely injured, he should have been resting face down.
