In just about every scene where Old Chief Woodenhead (the wood-carving) is seen standing in front of the store, you can see slight movements by the actor who played him. However this is NOT a mistake as the characters in the film even give subtle acknowledgment the wooden statue has moved. This is to show that the statue was actually "alive" all along.
