(at around 4 mins) In a club scene at the start of the movie, "Pump Up The Volume" by Marrs and "True Faith" by New Order are both heard. This scene occurs prior to one taking place at Christmas, and the scene at the end features a live Ronald Reagan speech from March 1987, meaning it must be taking place sometime in late 1986 (in the book, it's spring 1987). Both the New Order and M/A/R/R/S songs weren't released until summer 1987.
