After Percy gets bathed in acid, there is a shot where you can clearly see that his back is intact, but after that he falls revealing his back completely acid burnt.
EDIT: The shot shown of Percy's intact back is immediately after being sprayed and only of his shoulders. Acid would not burn through instantaneously and when he falls, the damaged area starts near his shoulder blades, below the area that was shown in the previous intact shot.
