No way that an old cold war era passive sonar being so accurate to measure distance to meter resolution (208 meters) when they heard the destroyer. Should have just say rough distance.Also no way detecting surrounding seabed geometry by banging the boat's bulkhead and listening to echo. Could have just use a modern active sonar brought on board the ship.
