The truck full of stolen guns and ammo crashes and burns, and bullets punch through the body and hit objects around the characters. Loose cartridges will not detonate with sufficient force to penetrate a truck body; they will pop like firecrackers, but the fragments are typically not dangerous more than a few feet away, and can be stopped by light barriers like plywood or plastic safety goggles.A bullet can penetrate a car body if the round "cooks off" in the barrel of a loaded gun in a fire, but it's highly implausible that a Marine trained in capture and disposal of enemy weaponry would be careless enough to transport dozens of guns without unloading them all first.
