It is revealed that Addison's grandmother, who is her mother's mother, is an alien. An archival recording is shown of the grandmother stating that she came to Earth a long time ago, met and married a human, had a daughter, and hid the map in her "most precious thing". The movie tells us that her most precious thing is Addison, but Addison did not exist at the time. It would be Addison's mother, her grandmother's daughter, who would have been her most precious thing. The mother would have the map in her DNA first and foremost, before it would be in Addison's DNA.
