Jesse Kane is trapped beneath a fallen torpedo and dies when the torpedo room floods, kindling David's hatred of Aquaman. But torpedoes have near-neutral buoyancy, otherwise they'd sink like rocks when they're fired. It should have been easy for David to lift the torpedo and save his father once the room was half flooded.
