(at around 25 mins) When Clarice meets with Barney she says that Lecter had been confined in Chilton's asylum for six years. In Il silenzio degli innocenti Lecter says he had been there for eight years. This was repeated in the current film when Lecter on tape says he had been there for eight years.Actually, Clarice says that Barney survived Lecter six years at the asylum. Barney may have started working there two years after Lecter was first admitted, or he may not have been in charge of attending to him directly up to that point.
