When Robbie is assisting a local doctor to perform an autopsy she tells him "maximum sharps precautions". Shortly thereafter she tells the doctor to pass her the scalpel so he can assist her instead and he does so directly hand-to-hand. No trained doctor would pass a sharp instrument in this fashion as the standard (and safest) method would be to do so using a passing tray to prevent simultaneous handling of the instrument and avoid possible injury.
