When the VIP mints are revealed, Carol tentatively tries one, taking a small bite. Then Dr. Tyler announces that each mint is equivalent to 3 martinis. Carol quickly finishes her mint and takes two more of the alcoholic treats, but earlier in the film she declines a glass of wine stating she "can't handle alcohol." If she can't handle alcohol, she wouldn't have finished the first mint let alone gone back for more except that the plot required her to get drunk.
