The police interrogator tells Becker "it seems four sweet old ladies, who apparently don't exist, have recently transferred some very large sums of money into Becker Holdings, LLC" (the pieces of the Toussaint the ladies hired by Debbie sell/consign for auction). The innocent Becker doesn't ask him what he is talking about, but, instead, asks for his attorney. This is not an error on Claude's part - when accused of a serious crime, the best option is to say nothing without a lawyer present. The fact that money has apparently been paid into his company shows him that he has been framed, and that the police have more evidence than just the part of the necklace found in this apartment. He gains nothing by protesting his innocence at that time.
