Calitri is said to have spent five years in prison in south London for manslaughter and immigrated to the USA in 1998 after serving his time. Those with a criminal record in the UK are not allowed to enter the US for 10 years, and it is likely his request to immigrate would have been denied based on his conviction for a violent crime. Further, they talk about him in connection with additional multiple crimes, such as loan sharking, fencing stolen goods and extortion, although it is not clear where he committed those crimes. Someone with such an extensive criminal record would not have been to immigrate to the United States at any point, and if had committed those crimes in the United States, he would have been imprisoned and then deported.
