The raid depicted occurred prior to the fall of Vicksburg on July 4th, 1863 and in the movie several references are made about being captured and sent to Andersonville prison in Georgia. The Andersonville prison did not start housing Union POWs until February, 1864 almost a year after the depicted raid.
