When Terry is in front of the room occupied with Nicky and his mobster friends; he starts listening to their conversation through the door. He then starts to try opening the door but a mobster armed with a gun surprises him from behind and forces him into the room. The film does not explain the purpose of Terry wanting to enter the mobster's room in the first place especially without a gun.
