In the final emergency situation, flight "Transgulf 47" has lost hydraulics. When deciding where to direct the aircraft, controller supervisor T.C. Bryant (Bruce McGill) says "They might have to ditch in the desert." To an aircraft, a "ditching" is a forced landing on the water.
