When Aurora and Jim take their first space walk, the lighting *inside* their helmets is so bright that they would be unable to see, and marvel at, the galaxy panorama that we are shown, consisting of nebulae and myriads of very distant stars. Even if there were no light in the helmets, the dark adaptation necessary to see the sights would take up to a minute.
