Naval aviator Lieutenant Commander Eugene Lindsey comes in for a landing, but only one of his landing gear has come down. The plane crash lands, skids across the deck and goes over the side and into the water. Moments later, he's brought on board the USS Enterprise with severe injuries. There are several errors in this scene: 1) his aircraft crashed due to a stall, not failure of the landing gear to deploy, 2) he is brought back aboard ship perfectly dry despite having landed in the water, 3) Lindsey had two crewmen aboard his aircraft who were rescued but were not shown and 4) he is shown being taken aboard the USS Enterprise. The Enterprise could not stop and had to keep going. Lindsey and his crew were picked up by the destroyer USS Monaghan.
