Aurora mentions that she is going to stay on Homestead II for a year and then go back to Earth on a return flight. For a trip that takes 120 years, it seems highly unlikely that the company would park a colony ship above the planet for a year and then send it back (how many people would even be willing to return?). In most depictions of colony ships, the ship itself is designed to be disassembled and used as habitation structures for the colony. It seems highly unlikely that a ship of that size would be used as a 240 year shuttle service.But they might sensibly have smaller ships, able to bring physical samples back to Earth. And since it is commercial, it would sensibly include anyone who could pay for a round trip. And for settlers who wanted to see Earth.
