Denise Frankel is trying to adopt the little girl from Nigeria, who has been in the detention center. There is a lengthy process for adoption, and there never seems to be any hint of an investigation into her, her husband Cole, or their home to ensure that the girl would be placed into a suitable living environment. Throughout the movie, it doesn't seem as though Cole had even participated in the screening process. Also, Cole being arrested toward the end of the movie might indicate a refusal for the adoption to take place in actuality, yet after his arrest, the girl is released to Denise's custody.
