Pantyhose were invented in 1959 at a textile mill in North Carolina. They began to become commercially available in 1965. Jackie is shown removing what appear to be pantyhose (not stockings) when she is cleaning up at the White House after the assassination. In 1963 she, being the First Lady, might have had an early pair, but it is unlikely.
