When sitting in the Sikorsky S92 there were regular conversations, this is due to the engine and rotor blade noise in reality hardly possible. Passengers were not wearing any hearing protection only when they exited the S92 on the helideck of the Deepwater Horizon.
Also during passenger entering and exiting of the S92 on the Deepwater Horizon both parties were on the helideck. In reality this would never happen. It's very dangerous on a helideck when the helicopter is still running its engines and rotor blades turning. Therefore it's procedure first to exit the passengers and then have the other passengers to enter the helicopter. Also It's hardly possible to speak under a helicopter with running engines and rotor blades.
