The plane Fletcher chases down near the end is a Boeing 747-200. A long range plane mostly used for intercontinental flights. An airline wouldn't use such a large plane for a trip as short as Los Angeles to Boston (2,606 miles) due to the astronomical costs to crew and operate the plane. A Boeing 757 would be a more logical and economical choice.
