Di fronte allo scarso successo commerciale, la cantante Mima che deve abbandonare il microcosmo rosa confetto delle idol per essere "rilanciata" come attrice, in un mondo dove invece diventerà solo carne da macello. Ottiene la parte di una ragazza psicologicamente instabile nel serial Tv "Doppio Legame", ma inizia a ricevere messaggi di minaccia anonimi da parte di un fan otaku che non ha tollerato il cambiamento d'immagine della "sua" Mima. Di lì a poco, una serie di incidenti colpisce il set di lavorazione. La stessa Mima, abituata a essere un mero simulacro, inizia a perdere contatto con la propria identità. Ma allora: chi è la vera Mima? Quella che veste gli ingenui costumi della idol? Quella che compare sorridente su Internet? Quella che fa la spesa al supermercato? La ragazza schizofrenica di "Doppio Legame"? L'illusione di se stessa? Oppure solo l'illusione di tutti?
