Fino a ieri la vita di Kate McQuean, avvocato civilista, si svolgeva interamente tra casa e lavoro, a Miami. Ma, dopo aver chiesto il sequestro della nave del marito di una cliente, cominciano i suoi guai: le esplode la casa, le sparano addosso e di colpo Kate si trova costretta a una fuga a perdifiato. Chi le vuole male è una banda di ex agenti del Kgb, i cui piani per una rapina sono stati intralciati dall'avvocato. Per fortuna a proteggerla, e anche a consolarla nella fuga c'è un aitante detective.
