L'ex capitano pilota Richard Barney viene licenziato dal proprietario del pub in cui lavora ed allora va a trovare la sua ex moglie Brenda, che ha aperto un'agenzia matrimoniale e gli regala un po' di soldi. Quando Richard esce dall'agenzia, arriva Bob, un suo vecchio amico. Bob strangola Brenda con la sua cravatta e poi va via. E' lui il maniaco che terrorizza Londra da un pò di tempo e strangola le donne, ma la polizia - grazie anche alla testimonianza di Monica, la segretaria di Brenda - accusa Richard del delitto...
