James Henry Trotter, che si ritrova a vivere con due zie, zia Stecco e zia Spugna dopo la morte dei genitori. La vita con le sue zie è difficile e sogna di un posto migliore, più specificamente New York City, un posto da sogno di cui i suoi genitori gli avevano parlato.
