[Arriving at the carnival]
Rhonda Thompson:
You see the girls?
Eddie Popko:
Now, just relax, all right? You're with Eddie Popko. Everything's gonna work out just fine.
[He goes to get out of his car, but his door hits a cop car that just arrived and parked]
Rhonda Thompson:
[Irritated]
Smooth move, Eddie.
[They both get out of the car]
Eddie Popko:
[On the passenger side of the cop's car]
I'm sorry, officer. It's my fault. Lucky it was just a tiny little ding. Heh heh. Actually adds a little bit of character, don't you think?
Policeman:
Well, it is Christmas Eve. I guess I don't have to shoot you.
[Rhonda and Eddie look worried]
Policeman:
But I might if you don't laugh at my jokes.
[They all laugh]
Eddie Popko:
You got me there.
Policeman:
Okay, you kids have fun. Merry Christmas.
Eddie Popko:
Merry Christmas to you.
Rhonda Thompson:
Merry Christmas.
[the officer grabs his clipboard and opens to see the Wanted poster of Eddie and Rhonda]
Eddie Popko:
[to the officer]
You have a nice day.
Eddie Popko:
[Quietly to Rhonda]
That was close. Last thing we need are cops.
