Bobby Kopas:
[Lundy is driving Frank, Wiley, and Kopas past the melon field with migrant workers Larry Mendoza hired]
We're up to it, now, Mr. Renda.
[directs Frank to the field]

Bobby Kopas:
Sir.
Frank Renda:
I thought you said nobody was working for him.
Bobby Kopas:
Oh, no crews. Just some migrants he hired, that's all.
[They drive past a crew of road workers. Frank grows suspicious and leans towards Lundy]

Bobby Kopas:
Go up a ways and turn around.
[Lundy circles around and they drive back past the road construction zone]

Frank Renda:
[to Kopas]
How long's that been here?
Bobby Kopas:
Oh, they're always patching up the road, getting in the way, you know what I mean?
Frank Renda:
How LONG?
Bobby Kopas:
[growing nervous]
I don't know, two, three days, sir, I think.
[Frank discovers one of the road workers is actually Deputy Harold in disguise. An angry Frank yanks Kopas backwards]

Frank Renda:
Don't you know cops when you see them?
Bobby Kopas:
[playing dumb]
Cops? Are you sure? I never thought about cops being around.
[Frank lets go of Kopas]

Frank Renda:
[to Lundy]
Pull over.
Gene Lundy:
Hmm?
Frank Renda:
Pull over... and stop!
[Lundy stops the car]

Frank Renda:
[to Kopas]
Okay, asshole... get out.
Bobby Kopas:
[scoffs]
What, right here? My car's all the way over in Edna. That's about a four or five-mile walk.
[Lundy impatiently opens Kopa's door and he gets out]

Frank Renda:
[signals Kopas]
Come here, you.
[Kopas leans down near the door's backseat]

Frank Renda:
You know, I ain't known you for a half-hour and you're talking shit to me out of the side of your face. I say I want nobody working for this guy and he's got a dozen people living here! The cops set up a grandstand to watch the show...
[angrily clenches Kopa's hat as Wiley almost starts to laugh]

Frank Renda:
... and you don't even know that they're cops! I don't see where you're doing me any good, at all.
Bobby Kopas:
But I watched him for you, didn't I, so he wouldn't run, huh?
Frank Renda:
Yeah? Well, YOU better run off, now, and you better do just like Lundy says and don't you, ever, EVER talk no shit to me, again. Do you hear?
Bobby Kopas:
[uneasily]
Yes, sir.
[He scrambles to get his hat after Frank lets it go]
