When the curator of the new Museum of Modern Art in New York City, Iris Barry, traveled to Germany to acquire prints of classic films for the collection, the Nazis refused to give her the German version of The Blue Angel. (The separately shot English version was the one that has gotten released in the US) They felt it presented too unflattering a portrait of German life and bordered on being pornographic.
