In his autobiography MY WORD IS MY BOND, Roger Moore claims he was up for the part in this movie played by Edward Fox. If he is correct it is the second time Fox was cast in a role Moore wanted, since Moore also claims he tried to get the role of the Jackal in "Day of the Jackal" (1973), which also went to Edward Fox, who was preferred since he was less well known than Moore.
